The History of QypeDeals
It all started with a simple idea: how can local businesses unlock the internet’s potential?
Thomas Benrik had an idea for a platform that would enable businesses to upload hyper-local deals and provide customers with cheaper ways to enjoy great places. In January 2010, Benrik launched www.cooledeals.de in Munich and Hamburg and quickly grew the site to other cities. In February 2011, cooledeals was acquired by Hamburg-based Qype GmbH, Europe's largest review and recommendation website and QypeDeals was born.
Our partners Qype
Qype, Europe's largest user-generated local reviews site, was founded in Hamburg in 2006. Internet entrepreneur Stephan Uhrenbacher was trying to find a nursery for his son, and realised the value of personal recommendations. So Qype was founded: a community where people could share their experiences and give feedback on the consumer decisions they make every day.
With 25 million visits per month (January 2012), our 2 million-strong Qype community of reviewers are helping users worldwide to make those decisions both at home and on the go, using the Qype smartphone app. Whether you need a plumber you can trust, a great local restaurant or some tips for a mini break abroad, Qype's international community can help.
With an active community of Qypers who review and recommend new places every day, it’s also an increasingly important network for businesses to promote themselves and manage their online reputation. Qype allows them to interact with their customers and take control of what’s being said about their business online.
